OUR WORK
At United Way of North Idaho, we believe every person deserves the opportunity to thrive.
Since 1957, we have brought people, organizations, and resources together to address our region's most pressing challenges and create lasting change across Idaho's five northern counties. We work to improve the lives of our neighbors in Kootenai, Shoshone, Benewah, Bonner, and Boundary counties.
Our work is rooted in three key focus areas: health, education, and financial stability. Through strategic partnerships, community investment, and innovative programs, we help children succeed in school, connect families with essential resources, strengthen the local workforce, and improve access to services that help individuals and communities flourish.
We don't do this work alone. By partnering with nonprofits, businesses, schools, government agencies, and dedicated volunteers, we identify emerging needs and develop collaborative solutions that create the greatest possible impact. Whether we're supporting early childhood education, connecting neighbors through Idaho 211, mobilizing volunteers, responding to disasters, or investing in local nonprofits, our mission remains the same: to build a stronger, healthier, and more resilient North Idaho.
Together, we're creating opportunities, strengthening communities, and improving lives — today and for generations to come.
